The Haworth Prize

We had a great time at the New English Art Club preview this week, at the Mall Galleries, London. Having had two works shortlisted for the Haworth Prize, I was absolutely thrilled when my drawing 'Cropton Forest I' was announced the winner! The prize, sponsored by The Haworth Trust is for young artists (aged 35 years and under) living and working in the North of England, creating work inspired by their surroundings.

It really is such an honour to be given this prestigious award, selected by a panel of NEAC members including the NEAC President, Richard Pikesley. Richard said of the work: “We chose ‘Cropton Forest I’ as the winning piece because of its strength and immediacy, the observational quality of its drawing and for the haunting atmosphere it creates looking through the woodland.”

A huge thank you to the Haworth Trust, the NEAC and Mall Galleries. The exhibition runs until 27th June and is not to be missed. Far too many talented artists to mention - see the show if you can.
